In 1989, Scott introduced one of the most important parts in road cycling history - the clip-on aerodynamic handlebar. Scott expanded to Europe in 1978 and moved their headquarters to Fribourg, Switzerland. In 1970, Scott began selling their first motocross goggles, and expanded into other kinds of motocross gear. The company built off this achievement to start producing many kinds of sports goods. In 1958, engineer and skier Ed Scott from Sun Valley, Idaho invented an aluminum ski pole which outperformed its bamboo and steel competitors. The Swiss company Scott makes bicycles, skiing/snowboard/outdoor winter equipment, motorsports gear, and sportswear.
